WATERLOO —
Imagine a venue full of football players, each passing by and kicking each other\'s net.
Now imagine that each player is wrapped up in a huge transparent bubble, topping from head to top of his knee, and in the process of competing for the ball, they tilt their whole body.
Sounds more challenging and fun?
Welcome to the world of bubble sports.
About a year ago, college students, ancient Mandy and Edward, bought six inflatable bubbles (or zorbs)
They use videos overseas.
\"We think it will be an explosion of an attempt,\" Gu said . \".
They shipped zorbs from China and had an idea in mind.
At least, they will have a good time with their friends.
But there may also be business opportunities here.
When people start coming towards them in the park and are curious about strange objects, they get the answer.
\"This is the moment we know there is a market for the sport,\" Gu said . \". By mid-
On June, they merged the zorb rental business GeeseRabbit.
\"We came up with this idea right away,\" Qian said . \".
With the help of their parents, they hoarded zorbs, ordered more than 50 and made sure they were made of a plastic called thermoplastic polyurethane or TPU.
Money and Gu said that Zorbs made of this material are more expensive than Zorbs made of PVC, but TPU has no smell, is more durable and is easier to bounce back.
\"You can use them outdoors and in the gym,\" Qian said . \".
TPU can be recycled and there are additional benefits.
You can rent two sizes of zorbs from Waterloo and Mississauga Sharjah locations in GeeseRabbit, one for children and the other for adults.
Using an electric pump, they can inflate or deflate in just a minute or so.
Users slide them over the top of their heads, tighten the internal straps, and grab the handle inside the bubble while running.
Bubble football is one of the most popular games to play with zorbs, but there is really no limit when you use your imagination.
Gu and Qian posted some other ideas on their website, including the King of bubbles, which is a new view of the King of Mountains.
While full contact is expected when wearing zorbs, Gu and Qian say it is very safe if the suit is properly worn.
\"We are not hurt,\" Gu said.
\"The design of Zorbs is very good.
Money says it\'s instinctive to try not to fall when you first wear a suit.
But it\'s almost impossible.
\"Once you \'ve fallen a few times, you\'ll find it actually interesting to fall and roll,\" he said . \".
\"There is little risk of injury when falling.
\"In the first year of operation, GeeseRabbit rented a suit for everything from birthday parties to charity events.
The children\'s suit costs $30 a day;
The adult version is $40.
Renting r usually picks up bubbles and shows how to use them.
\"It means very self.
Explain, \"said Gu.
If people live further away, they can usually spend the night for free if availability permits.
Gu and Qian are still trying the delivery system in kidina and Waterloo this summer.
The couple are balancing their business with the needs of the university program, a dual degree in mathematics and business offered jointly by the University of Waterloo and Wilfried Laurier University.
A friend of the Mississauga operation is working on it.
\"It looks like a busy season,\" Gu said.
Gu and Qian are looking at the possibility of expanding their product with a larger zorb that allows people to enter and go down the mountain.
It\'s essentially a human being.
Squirrel ball size
Gu smiled and said, \"Let\'s test it first . \"
This summer, they are also building a bubble football league for students at the University of Waterloo.
The zubu family itself is curious enough.
But what about the name of this GeeseRabbit?
Many students at local universities have renamed the Great River Transit (GRT) The Wild Goose rapid transit, a recognition of the large number of Canadian wild geese around the campus.
The names of the two animals were given to them by Gu and Qian.
\"It\'s kind of like an internal joke in an internal joke,\" the money said . \".
Although the couple must have been a busy year, Gu and Qian said they were very satisfied with the progress of the matter.
There is a feeling of pride that has pushed an absolute low
A technology company that caters to high technologytech startups.
\"UW has a lot of great things, most of them are high-tech,\" Gu said . \".
\"Having the resources that everyone can pursue and turning their vision into reality is very good for students.
